In 2016 SAMA partnered with University of Gezira in Sudan and jhpiego to introduce the HAM-BAB module to train village midwives to combat maternal death resulting from postpartum hemorrhage.
A 3 days workshop was held to train 25 master trainers followed by 7 days of champions training at 4 rural hospitals and 1 tertiary hospital. In January 2017 a further 150 village midwives were trained by the Sudanese faculty. SAMA aims to train 600 village midwives by September 2017.
SAMA and the University of Gezira have translated the HMS-BAB module into Arabic to facilitate the training. In addition SAMA granted University of Gezira a cash grant of $10,000 to expand the training in Gezira State. Midwifery Schools have incorporated the HMS-BAB module in their curriculum, all graduate midwives will have the HMS-BAB skills. SAMA aims to train all  village midwives in Gezira State by the end of 2018.
